
A commitment Friday, just a few days after Michigan’s 2023 football recruiting class took a significant June hit, restored some hope in Ann Arbor as the month of July began.
The Wolverines’ No. 1 ranking was lowered Wednesday by Raylen Wilson, a four-star Florida linebacker. 55 nationally and 13th in Big Ten. On Friday, Michigan welcomed Semaj Bridgeman, a four-star linebacker hailing from Pennsylvania.
Bridgeman, of Philadelphia’s Imhotep Institute pledged maize, blue, and a tweet on Friday evening. He also posted an image of himself wearing No. 7 in Michigan gear. The No. 2 defender, at 6-2 and 230 lbs, is ranked. 247 Sports composite rankings ranked the 20th best linebacker in the country, while the No. 6 recruit from Pennsylvania
Bridgeman tweeted, “First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude and honor to all of you.” “Secondly, I would like to thank my parents, pop, and siblings for their support and advice. I also want to thank all my coaches who have helped me become the best young man and athlete I can be. Thank you, last but not least, to all universities that allowed me to play at their schools. Bridgeman was also offered by dozens of Power Five schools including LSU and Penn State. He narrowed his choices to six schools after last season. He visited Ann Arbor in June 10, and he committed to Rutgers 10 days later, his last college visit.
Bridgeman was the eighth commitment to the Wolverines’ 2023 class. He follows Missouri wide receiver Fredrick Moor earlier Friday and Illinois tight-end Deakon Tonielli who were the only three remaining since March. Moore and Tonielli, along with four other players in the eight-player class, are three-stars.
The commitments of Bridgeman and Moore bring the Wolverines to No. They are now at No. 50 overall, but they still have a way to go before Indiana among the 14 Big Ten teams in 2023. (USC, UCLA, and other universities will be joining the conference in 2024 to play in the conference are ranked No. 10.
